The Great Room
The CMYA awards evening is hosted in the largest event space at the hotel, the sensational Great Room.
The site of the hotel itself has an elaborate past; once a small house named ‘Gloucester House’, it was purchased by Robert Grosvenor, 1st Marquess of Westminster in 1805. The house remained in the Grosvenor’s possession until the First World War. During this time, the house underwent multiple developments and expansions, including a 15-metre long picture gallery and a 34-metre long colonnaded entrance. After the war, the house was sold and subsequently demolished. In the 1920s the Grosvenor House Hotel was built on the site, opening its doors in 1929.
