Rising Star Award

WHO SHOULD ENTER?

This award is open internationally and is for Rising Stars who have been in the construction industry for 7 years or less, and who have demonstrated excellence in their work, the industry and amongst their peers.

We encourage entries from those who have made a real difference to the business or projects they have been involved with since May 2020 to date.

 

HOW TO ENTER?

To enter please complete the application form below before Friday 18 June 2021. Please note you cannot nominate yourself.

TEAM OF THE YEAR

WHO SHOULD ENTER?

This award is open to UK based teams. The team should comprise of 3 or more persons and must operate within the Built Environment. We expect the team to be working for a single organisational entity. The independent testimonial must come from someone outside the team’s organisation with direct knowledge or experience of working with the nominated team. Achievements deserving of recognition, sharing and celebration should be based on evidence from January 2020 to date. The nominated team can have worked for a CMYA entrant company (both in this year or previous years). Please note you may nominate your own team.

 

HOW TO ENTER?

To enter please complete the application form below before Friday 18 June 2021. You will be providing examples of how the nominated team has made its mark on the Built Environment

CLIENT OF THE YEAR

WHO SHOULD ENTER?

This award is open to all UK based organisations who have led the commissioning of construction projects. The independent testimonial must come from someone outside the client’s organisation with direct knowledge or experience of working with the nominated client. The submitted evidence will be for project(s) procured or project(s) in progress during the period from January 2020 to date. The nominated organisation can be a client of a CMYA entrant company (both in this year or previous years). Please note you may nominate your own organisation.

HOW TO ENTER?

To enter please complete the application form below before Friday 18 June 2021. You will be providing examples of the latest best practice construction project implementation or planned implementation.

This award is open to all UK based organisations.

The client should be an organisation which has led the commissioning of construction projects.You may nominate your own organisation.

The independent testimonial must come from someone who is not a client employee but with direct knowledge or experience of working with the client.

The submitted evidence will be for project(s) procured or project(s) in progress during the period from January 2020 to date. The nominated organisation can be a client of a CMYA entrant company (both in this year or previous years).

Guidelines and Tips for entering Rising Star Award 2021

The judges will look for:

  • Evidence of working in the built environment for a period of less than 7 years.
  • Role of the candidate
  • Career achievements to date
  • How has this candidate made a mark on the employer, industry and their colleagues?
  • Why is this candidate different from others in a similar position?
  • What makes them stand out in a business?
  • How does this candidate demonstrate excellence in their work, industry, amongst their peers and within society?

Guidelines and Tips for entering the Team Award 2021

The judges will look for examples showing evidence of the following:

  • A vision and purpose aligned to business and corporate objectives
  • Objectives may include sales, new client development, innovation, quality, client satisfaction, Health & Safety, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Modern Methods of Construction (MMC)
  • Understanding of clearly defined roles and demonstration of mutual trust, support and values
  • Evidence of equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Effective communication within and beyond the team, including with external stakeholders
  • A focus on individual and collective professional development
  • Strong leadership and successful performance outcomes
  • How decisions are made and conflict resolved
  • How feedback is provided and how is the team rewarded individually and as a group
  • How this has contributed to overall team performance
  • A focus on continuous improvement
  • Mentoring opportunities

Guidelines and Tips for entering the Client Award 2021

The judges will be looking for examples of the latest best practice construction project implementation or planned implementation:

  • Early engagement to co-develop solutions and implement ways of collaborative working
  • Adherence to the concept of fair margins
  • Risk management by those best able to manage the risk
  • Engagement in collaboration on potential opportunities and issues
  • Exemplar modern methods of construction that encapsulate safety, sustainability and innovation
  • Embracing and advancing the use of digital technologies
  • Digital payment and processes and the embedding of the concept of prompt payment
  • Quality management processes such as ISO9001
  • Investment in skills and people
  • Meeting the standards of the UK BIM Framework
  • Outcome-based approach that includes the aim for greater social value
  • Promotion of equal opportunities and improvement of well-being
  • Encouragement of behaviours to support the above
