Thirty years of excellence in Construction Management

2008 is the 30th year that the Construction Manager of the Year Awards have celebrated excellence in construction.

No other awards in the construction industry are subject to the level of judging and scrutiny that the CIOB applies to these Awards. This is why the Construction Manager of the Year Awards are so highly prized. This is why year after year the industry's top managers are nominated for consideration. And it's why over 1100 of the movers and shakers of the construction industry make a point of attending the Awards evening at the Grosvenor House.

These awards are open to site-based project managers with overall responsibility for the delivery of any UK construction project; the awards are given to the individuals for their own project management work, not to their projects.

There are 10 categories covering managers on all construction projects from the smallest scale up to the very largest retail and commercial developments. Each category has a Gold and Silver medal winner with all the Gold winners going forward for the final selection of ‘Construction Manager of the Year'.

What's special about the Construction Manager of the Year Awards?

Judged by the CIOB, these are the only industry awards that celebrate individual management achievement. The awards are not for projects, processes, products or design. They are for people. As a consequence they are highly sought after both by the individuals and their companies.

The atmosphere on the night is unlike that of any of the usual run of the mill industry awards evenings. Winning a medal and particularly being named as overall Construction Manager of the Year is a major career milestone and launch pad for the future. Companies support and promote the event because of the benefit that a winning manager brings to the company and its reputation.

Judges, which include CIOB Fellows, and past award winners are looking for evidence of high quality and innovative project management and most importantly, complete client satisfaction.

Judging is exacting and is why these awards are worked for and prized above all others. The list of recent past winners demonstrates the range and quality of management skills celebrated and rewarded.
