Having led an exemplary fast-track office design and build in the vicinity, Joe Conway was recommended by the employer’s agent to this new client. Just as impressive this time around, his performance earned more rave reviews.
He played a pivotal role in preparing this project for site. If ever the warning ‘fail to prepare, prepare to fail’ were not needed, it is in Joe’s case. His manner may be calm and relaxed, but he is a hard-working, organised and diligent construction manager.
And once onsite, he hit his stride with an unparalleled demonstration of assured people management and superb control of the process of constructing a modern office scheme. For sheer momentum and site efficiency, Joe’s project took the biscuit. Soon after site works had begun, he was reporting that the project was already a week ahead. And he finished as he’d started, achieving practical completion a fortnight ahead of programme.
The quality of finish was remarkable, thanks to Joe’s leadership. His attention to detail and inventiveness in proposing alternative solutions and resolving unforeseen difficulties were outstanding. He mastered the intricate detail and precision of the notoriously difficult areas of glazed facade, reception and toilets, and delivered to the client’s high expectations.

His weekly meetings with the subcontractors, brief and informal, and often with key players grouped together, underpinned progress by openly discussing safety, programme and information release.
