His communication with the client and professional team was exemplary. He set up partnering and team-building workshops, focused on relationships and project delivery and included the supply chain.
From the outset he worked collaboratively with the design team, providing innovative solutions, with any saving from value engineering shared and reinvested in the project. He introduced a sprayed plaster system that was four times quicker to apply as well as more durable. He improved the buildability of the cladding by omitting blockwork and using a rail system.
He encouraged offsite construction and modularisation to design out risk –prefabricated ventilation housing eliminated working at height. And his use of recycled site materials for a 1.5m upfill operation generated £200k in savings for reinvestment.
Damien’s honest and open approach in the commercial dealings helped cement his reputation as the strong and effective leader of a collaborative project.
